However, a new study from Shark has found that one-in-three of us have never cleaned our air fryers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore showing less of a love for the hygiene of these dinnertime heroes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the third most-used appliance in the UK, according to a study by Good Food Nation, there is a potential 10.33 million air fryers in the UK sitting dirty. <\/p>

How to clean your air fryer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Salom\u00e9 Gi\u00e3o, the in-house microbiologist at Shark has revealed her expert advice on keeping air fryers lean and hygienic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She states: “Although their convenience is what makes them so popular, they need more care than ovens do, and that is a common misconception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The basket and tray need to be washed after every use by rinsing with a soap solution. <\/p>

“Even if you are using air fryer liners, it’s important to disinfect the basket after use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Away from daily use, a deep clean should be done on your air fryer every four weeks, or two to three weeks depending on usage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is to remove bacteria from any spillages or splatters that can occur when cooking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Using a non-scratch sponge, create a baking soda paste to hone in on those areas of stubborn grease. <\/p>

“For overall cleanliness, create a mix of white vinegar and washing up liquid to remove bacteria. After you have used this, rinse with warm water and put back all parts ready for the next use.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
