Halloween is growing in popularity in the UK, with decorations and festivities becoming bigger than ever. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One such trend that has gained traction this spooky season is that for Halloween trees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the same way that Easter trees have taken off in the spring, Halloween trees are becoming a symbol of autumn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They can be small to sit on a mantlepiece or as a table centrepiece, or you can repurpose your Christmas tree and decorate it with autumn and Halloween style accessories. <\/p>

We spoke to David Sumner, sales manager at Christmas Tree World<\/a> to find out more about the growing trend, and what other Halloween decorations are trending this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is a Halloween tree?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A Halloween tree is a tree, of any size, as small or large as you’d like, that is decorated with autumn and spooky season themed decorations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

xxx explains: “As more people are putting up their Christmas trees earlier in the year, the Halloween tree trend is coming off the back of finding excuses to put up decorations earlier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“People are also looking for more sustainable and cost-effective ways to decorate for Halloween, rather than buying brand new decorations each year.”<\/p>

Where is the best place to put a Halloween tree?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Just like a Christmas tree, it’s important to consider the best location for your Halloween tree. You’ll have to consider the size of the tree you’ll put up, and where it will best fit in your room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

xxx explains: “The best place to put up a Halloween tree is somewhere in your home that is darker or less well-lit. For example, a corner of a room, so that the tree and lights illuminate the space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Another suggestion is to place your tree in a room where you spend the most time, such as a living room, so that you can enjoy the spectacle of your tree.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What kind of tree is best for a Halloween tree?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“You can repurpose an artificial Christmas tree or go for something more spooky-themed. <\/p>

“If you decide to buy a designated Halloween tree, a black or white tree is a great option for this, for the classic eerie feel or ghost-theme display. You could also choose a pre-lit Christmas tree, or a slim pencil tree for a spooky corner or smaller space.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What should we decorate a Halloween tree with?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“Once you have chosen your look, it’s time to decorate your Halloween tree.” David explains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We recommend you start by covering the branches with your base colours using ribbons or spooky netting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Next is to add your themed ornaments, followed by statement pieces, such as mini pumpkins and LED candles. If your tree base is black or white, stick to two or three colours for contrast like green or purple.<\/p>

“A Halloween tree without lights is frightening in itself (and not in a good way). For the best effect, use warm white lights for a softer glow, or for more bold, spooky vibes, opt for purple or orange string lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Every tree needs a crown, especially for Halloween trees! Consider a witch’s hat, skeleton hands, or even a black cat for that final spooky pi\u00e8ce de r\u00e9sistance. For a craftier style, you could make a papier-mache pumpkin or crochet your own ghost topper.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
