Meanwhile John Lewis has named the soothing hue the colour of the season<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThink of it as the sweeter, more delicate cousin of the deeper greens we\u2019ve been loving \u2014 matcha green, Bottega green\u2026 and now pistachio is quietly overtaking them all,\u201d explains Ayisha Onuorah<\/a>, interior designer and founder of Ayisha Onuorah Design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt evokes more than just those luxe Dubai chocolates; it\u2019s Italian afternoons, old-school bakeries, and that slow, sweet Mediterranean vibe. <\/p> “Playful yet elegant, nostalgic yet fresh – pistachio somehow feels luxurious and completely accessible at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ayisha says the colour\u2019s pastel nature makes it the perfect hue to embrace right now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSpring is here, the sun is finally out, and softer colours just feel natural,\u201d she explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tash Bradley, director of interior design at Lick<\/a> says it\u2019s no surprise we\u2019re seeing a huge appetite for all things pistachio right now.<\/p> \u201cPistachio greens are what I call true \u2018dopamine colours<\/a>\u2019,\u201d she explains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThey are <\/strong>soothing yet uplifting, and people are craving that balance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “With everything going on in the world, we\u2019re leaning into shades that feel joyful but not overwhelming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “Pistachio is playful. It gives you the comfort of nature with a modern twist. <\/p> “Who wouldn\u2019t want a colour that feels like a breath of fresh air?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Whether you channel this pretty green through small upgrades in decor or go bold by drenching the walls, we spoke to the interior experts for some out-the-box ideas for all things pistachio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wary of bold colours? Ayisha says pistachio is the ideal gateway shade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s soft, easy to live with, yet still feels fresh and modern,\u201d she says.<\/p> Tash agrees that pistachio is the ideal hue for the colour-shy and recommends starting small. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThink painted woodwork, the inside of a bookshelf, or even a front door for a charming, unexpected pop,\u201d she suggests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPistachio greens work beautifully on cabinetry in kitchens or bathrooms, especially when paired with warm, creamy neutrals or terracottas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tash says pistachio hues can help to create a calm yet characterful space. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s incredibly versatile,\u201d she explains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou can make it playful in a kids’ room or elegant in a living space depending on what you pair it with.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Equally, the colour works well in rooms of various orientation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPistachio greens, like our Green 13<\/a>, work beautifully in both north- and south-facing rooms,\u201d Tash explains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIn north-facing spaces, where the light tends to be cooler, pistachio brings a warm freshness that brightens up the room. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “In south-facing spaces, it holds its own in that bright, golden light, staying soft and fresh without becoming too zingy. It\u2019s one of those rare greens that remains grounded and serene in any light.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n In contrast to many other shades of green, pistachio is a versatile colour which can be paired with a wide range of other shades, depending on the space it\u2019s used in and the desired overall effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you’re looking to achieve a neutral appearance when working with pistachio, The Pai<\/a>n<\/a>t Shed<\/a> says natural wood tones are a great choice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOpt for oaks, chestnut and walnut browns as these sit harmoniously together without creating a drastic contrast,\u201d a blog post about the hue explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Pink and green should always be seen! <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPistachio green pairs well with soft pinks and creamy tones,\u201d experts from The Paint Shed continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis will create a gentle contrast between the green and pink, adding a touch of vibrancy without overwhelming your space.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n For a sophisticated look, The Paint Shed recommends pairing buttery creams with pistachio. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis will help to create a calming backdrop, allowing the subtle green to take centre stage,\u201d the decorating experts suggest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Feeling bold? Ayisha says pistachio is the perfect colour for drenching. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThink walls, ceilings and trims in the same gorgeous soft green creates the dreamiest, cocooning effect,\u201d she explains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt works beautifully in a home office, guest bedroom, or hallway – spaces where you can afford to be a little more playful. The result is a true mood-lifter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n For a more unexpected nod to pistachio, Ayisha suggests opting for tiles in the pretty pastel hue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cA backsplash in the kitchen or bathroom adds a fresh, playful twist,\u201d she says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou could even go all in with pistachio worktops – think terrazzo with flecks of green – or make a cheerful and welcoming first impression with a pistachio-painted front door.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you\u2019re not quite ready to commit fully, nod to the trend with soft furnishings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPistachio cushions on the sofa, a soft green throw on the bed, or pistachio-toned ceramic, candle, or glassware accents can instantly lift a space without feeling like a huge commitment,\u201d Ayisha explains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThink of it like a pistachio latte moment – just a delicious little touch here and there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “You can also weave it in with artwork, lampshades or even kitchen accessories if you just want a whisper of the trend without a full redecoration.\u201d \u201cPistachio is a hue that’s bound to outshine the trend and soften a space with its calming qualities,\u201d she says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFor those shy with pattern, this refreshing colour works well as a subtle striped carpet or a rug, complementing a wide variety of d\u00e9cor schemes.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n To use pistachio effectively at home, Melissa Denham, interior design specialist at Hammonds Furniture<\/a> suggests considering it as an accent colour, pairing it with neutral tones like whites, creams, or soft greys, for a subtle green pop without overwhelming the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFor a cosy, earthy vibe, combine it with natural materials like wicker, or stone,\u201d she continues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt’s perfect for accent walls, throw pillows, or even soft furnishings like bedding and curtains to add a subtle pop of colour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “Another great way of introducing pistachio green is through smaller details like artwork and rugs.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n When decorating with pistachio green, you don’t need to make it the focal point of your scheme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIf you\u2019re wanting a more subtle approach, or a gentle nod to pistachio green, you can do this through careful furniture choices,\u201d suggests Sam Greig, head of design at Swoon<\/a>.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cChoose a primary piece of furniture in the room, such as a sofa or headboard, to feature the shade. Mirror this with more subtle accents throughout the room, such as cushions, vase, paintings etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “Repeating colours and patterns like this not only provides a soothing balance to any room, but it also adds interest and aligns with the theory to \u2018keep the eye moving across the room\u2019.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n If you do chose to use it as a primary colour, Melissa says there are many great furniture choices that can effectively use the colour pistachio green. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFor example, in a bedroom, matching chest of drawers or wardrobes with bedside tables that mimic the same colour will leave the space feeling cohesive and intentional,\u201d she says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Decorating with the colour green is a simple way to create a serene sleep space, with the light tones of pistachio helping to keep things calming and reminiscent of the natural world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Green is a colour associated with nature and growth, and pistachio green is a particularly fresh and light shade,\u201d explains Evie Hatch, colour specialist at Jackson\u2019s Art<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Research shows that green can have a positive therapeutic effect when used in spaces, boosting motivation, mood, and creativity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “Pistachio Green is an understated, muted shade of green, compared with more loud and vibrant hues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “It has a light, muted tone that is refreshing and versatile and uplifting without being overwhelming.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n Ally Dowsing-Reynolds, co-founder and interior expert at Dowsing & Reynolds<\/a> says the shade works beautifully in the bedroom paired with natural woods, to create a really calming, relaxing atmosphere. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “Placing walnut furniture like beds and wardrobes in front of a pistachio green wall can really make it pop,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Coloured bathroom suites are becoming a popular interior trend this year, with Google searches for \u2018coloured bathroom suites\u2019 more than doubling in the UK in the past 12 months alone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n If a green sink or bath is a step too far, try some pistachio-hued tiles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “Pistachio green tiles will bring a fresh, calming vibe to the bathroom,” says Mar\u00eda D Arr\u00e1ez, director, Tile of Spain UK. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “Try stacking pistachio subway tiles vertically for a contemporary feel, or use them in a shower niche or behind the sink as a soft accent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “Pair with warm brass fixtures and natural stone for a serene, spa-like look.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n Scooch over antique brass, hardware is all about pistachio this season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAn emerging trend for 2025 is the addition of bold hardware options in the home,” explains Ally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “As the popularity of pistachio green home decor continues to rise I predict we will see green hardware begin to make an appearance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Light switches, taps, cabinet handles, and even light fixtures and plug sockets were once confined to either black, white or metallic shades, but it\u2019s time for them to have a makeover.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ally suggests adding a pop of pistachio into your space through hardware, such as taps, cabinet handles, and lighting which will give it a modern and bold feel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “In bright kitchens with a lot of natural lighting, painting cabinets pistachio green can add warmth and personality to the space,” she adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Looking for more interiors inspiration?
