When you think of hotel rooms, luxury and relaxation spring to mind. A world away from home. Crisp, linen sheets, expertly tucked on beds that are the focal point of the room, and most importantly no clutter<\/a>. Given that we spend so much time in our homes, it makes sense to incorporate some of these hotel design ideas in your own bedroom and get a holiday-quality sleep every night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From paint colours to fabric styles to furnishings, get inspired with these interior decor ideas from hotels and holiday cottages to use at home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Number Sixteen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Style maven Kit Kemp<\/a>, Founder and Creative Director of the eponymous Firmdale Hotels<\/a>, is known for creating bold, colourful interiors with a playful mix of fabrics and prints (and usually a show-stopper signature headboard). Pictured is Room 102 at Number Sixteen<\/a>, located in a picturesque Victorian terraced townhouse<\/a> in South Kensington. Full of texture, the walls are clad in Fermoie <\/a>fabric, in the wave pattern. Handily, Fermoie’s brilliant fabrics can be used for curtains, upholstery and walling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The standout headboard is upholstered in Firmdale’s own heavyweight “Heart of Oak” fabric in a red, orange and green colourway, from their collaboration with Rosebank<\/a> fabrics. Adding to the mix of fabrics, the curtains are from another Kit Kemp collaboration with Christopher Farr<\/a>, and feature a geometric print in a bespoke colourway called Watermelon. <\/p>

The antique rich wood armoire adds warmth to the room, while the crisp white bedlinen and heavy bedspread bring the look together with a sharp finish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chapel House<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Down in beautiful West Cornwall, Chapel House<\/a> is a firm favourite and must-visit on the Penzance town map. Owner Susan Stewart bought the magnificent brick and Lamorna granite, 1790-built Georgian townhouse (and former Penzance Arts Club) in the winter of 2012 and immediately set about transforming it with her impeccable eye for design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, Chapel House has six bedrooms and two suites (it sleeps 21). Each room is a masterclass in minimalist design with perfect attention to detail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Susan explains that at Chapel House “the colour palette is drawn entirely from the sea, which is ever changing from silvery grey to petrol blue and sometimes quite green. With huge Georgian windows facing straight out to sea, the house is filled with light which seems to carry those colours.”<\/p>

Room two (pictured) is the ideal example of that serenity. It features a showstopper freestanding egg-shaped Cabuchon<\/a> bath, textured rug from Penzance’s East of Here<\/a>, handcrafted bed with alpaca throws and vintage artwork of ballet dancers. Art is a strong theme throughout the hotel and the nearby Newlyn School of Art<\/a> curates a constantly changing gallery of artwork in the entrance hall and first floor landing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Latitude 50<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Another Cornish gem comes in the form of Latitude 50’s Coolgrena<\/a> – its interiors are pitch perfect. A two-minute walk from the golden sands and rolling waves of the gloriously secluded Daymer Bay, with views across to the picturesque Camel Estuary, Coolgrena takes its design influences from its spectacular surroundings. Its airy, open-plan living spaces have crisp white walls and flood in acres of natural light through the double-height floor-to-ceiling windows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take inspiration from the incredible artwork. It’s by brilliant Brighton-based artist Belinda Coyne<\/a>, called “Lost Paths”, and is made up of 49 beautiful vitreous enamelled steel panels. The oversized stripe rug from Tribe Contemporary Rugs<\/a> in Chiswick and the restored orange Bertoia Diamond chairs<\/a> are a subtle way of adding a pop of colour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The White House<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Set directly behind the dunes of Camber Sands, Camber Holiday Cottages’ The White House<\/a> is an outstanding example of how to get an all-white interior just right. With Hamptons-style weatherboarding on the outside, the timber bungalow has an open-plan layout. French doors and windows flood in light and the subtlest shades of white and light grey run throughout. <\/p>

The sliding doors (pictured) are a great way of dividing spaces (especially with the latest trend of broken plan living<\/a>). All the kitchen equipment from the washing machine to the dishwasher is hidden behind rustic handmade kitchen doors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even the fridge\/freeze is aesthetically tucked behind a pale mint green door. The rustic vibe is continued with the carefully curated collection of vintage pieces that add texture and depth to the calming interiors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heckfield Place<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Every room at Heckfield Place<\/a> has hotel decor ideas that you’ll want to steal for your own home. Set in 400 acres of rolling grounds, walled gardens and lakes that you can swim in, 18th-century Grade II listed Georgian Heckfield is a country house hotel with serious style. Responsible for bringing the superlative interiors into the 21st century while restoring its original character is British designer Ben Thomson, who also worked on Isle’s Crawford incredible Stockholm hotel favourite, Ett Hem<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He’s executed a gorgeous earthy colour palette with a calming mix of vintage of mid-century and antique furniture. Each of the 45 bedrooms has its own style, vibe and understated luxury. Think a soothing mix of texture, high quality Italian linens and adjustable light settings to fit the mood for the time of day, and even season. <\/p>

Artist’s Residence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Artist’s Residence<\/a> is a hotel brand that have been a game changer on the interiors scene. Run by the innovative and super creative couple Justin and Charlie Salisbury, the brand started when Charlie took over his mum’s hotel business and with no money at the time, invited artists to come and decorate the bedrooms in return for board. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What resulted was a hotel brand that still puts art at the heart of everything they do. Now with five locations (London, Brighton, Bristol, Oxfordshire and Cornwall), every single room is a unique and eclectic mix of interiors that pulse with character and textured design details you’ll want to recreate in your own home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seagrass<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes, it’s not just a hotel room idea you’ll want to steal for your own home – it’s a whole house. Camber Holiday Cottages’ freshly tricked-out Seagrass<\/a> is a great example of the ideal family home. Designed all on one level, the open-plan layout has a great flow between bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen. The dining room leads into a cosy sitting\u00a0room\/snug. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are high beamed ceilings in the cathedral-domed kitchen, grey limestone tiles with underfloor heating, white and charcoal marble worktops and lighting that hangs from the beams. Print is brought in, care of Glasshouse Flora Graham & Brown wallpaper<\/a>, in the cloakroom. There are handmade Zellige pink tiles and hexagon sage green floor tiles (with underfloor heating) in the bathrooms. <\/p>

The kitchen and dining room doors open out on a festoon lighting-filled garden, which has an outdoor hot shower (perfect for post beach swims) and the stealable idea of a washing machine and tumble dryer in the shed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beaverbrook<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Over in the rolling Surrey Hills, Beaverbrook<\/a> has a grand house with 18 rooms, a Coach House and a Garden House. All have sophisticated interiors designed by the talented Susie Atkinson,<\/a> who was behind many of the Soho House Group’s lusted-after interiors. Her trademark stamp of quirky and quintessentially British design is seen across the hotel (95% of the furniture was made in the UK). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s great attention to detail in all the rooms. From the cosseted luxury of dark walls and chic half linen curtains (pictured) to grand, upholstered four poster beds – each has elegant hotel room decor ideas to incorporate in your own home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don’t miss ogling the spectacular floral stained glass ceilings in the hotel’s luxe spa or heading for London to check out the swanky interiors of its grown-up sister property, the Beaverbrook Townhouse<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
